Hi there, welcome to Rebecca Lyn Photography’s first official blog post. This post is going to give you the opportunity to really get to know us and everything that we are about. The way that I am going to do this is by answering a series of questions, some that you might have asked yourself. Here we go!
Where are you located?
We are located in Leesburg, Florida, about an hour north of Orlando. We serve Leesburg, as well as surrounding areas like, Mt. Dora, Clermont, Orange County, Seminole County, and Sumter County.
Do you have a studio or do you only shoot outdoors?
BOTH. Funny story time…when I first began my business, I would use my dining room as a studio. That meant that every time I had a session, my wonderful & helpful hubby would have to break down our dining room table, YIKES!! That got old real quick. Now I use a room that was our screen porch, but we have closed it in. It is still tiny, but it definitely serves its purpose. I’m waiting patiently until I feel that it is the right time to open a studio outside of my home.
Why do you limit who you photograph?
I LOVE photographing people, everyone, and when I first started, I did just that. I would never turn down a session because I wanted to get my name out there. As time went by and I did more sessions, I began to realize that I didn’t love doing just any type of session, still I continued. At the beginning of 2015, I had made up my mind, this was going to be the year that I specialize…in all things pregnancy and birth related.
A little information, I LOVE pregnancy, it is a miracle of God! Growing up, I wanted to be a midwife and be a part of bringing these miracles into the world. Plans didn’t quite turn out that way, who knows that most of the time it is for the best?!? Anyway, I was not able to pursue midwifery, but I still adored everything about pregnant mommas and brand new babies, so the thought occurred to me why not capture them in the most intimate moments of their lives? That is how I arrived at my “specialty”. I specialize in maternity, birth, newborn -1 yr, and family sessions.
What is your style?
This has been a thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. Deciding what you truly love is such a liberating feeling. I prefer to incorporate earthy tones and organically made outfits, basket stuffers, and head bands into each session. I love all things brown, cream, gray, etc., with just a splash of muted colors like sage, dusty rose, and peach, nothing bold or dark.
Can I bring items to my session?
Absolutely!! I allow a special outfit or item to be used in your session. If it doesn’t really scream my style, it just won’t be used as advertising on my website or social media sites.
What is in your camera bag?
I’m a Canon girl 🙂 I shoot with a Mark 5Dii and I use a 50 mm, 100, & 24-105 mm lenses. I primarily use my nifty 50 for newborns, although I break out the 100 for macro shots.
